Dear Parent/Guardian,
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school wide program to promote a positive school culture here at Douglass Middle School. The students are taught our school wide expectations, which is the Lion Code – Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. This is a proactive way to manage behaviors. We believe that when students know what is expected of them that they will behave within those expressed expectations. We have a Positive Student Acknowledgment Program where teachers give Lion Code Tickets to students who are following the Lion Code. If a student turns in a lost wallet to the office, that student will receive a Lion Code Ticket. All students are able to receive these Lion Code tickets multiple times by following the Lion Code. Students redeem the tickets at the Student Store for prizes.
As a parent, you can promote a positive school culture by providing academic supports at home and by your presence at school events. Many community members and businesses have shown support for our Positive Student Acknowledge Program by making donations. Their donations have supported the Student Store where the Lion Code Tickets are exchanged for prizes and monthly raffle drawings. Community businesses have also donated to our classrooms.

Estimado Padre / Tutor,
Intervenciones y apoyos de comportamiento positivo (PBIS) es un programa a nivel escolar para promover una cultura escolar positiva aquí en la Escuela Intermedia Douglass. A los estudiantes se les enseñan las expectativas generales de nuestra escuela, que es el Código León: sea seguro, sea respetuoso y sea responsable. Esta es una forma proactiva de gestionar comportamientos. Creemos que cuando los estudiantes sepan lo que se espera de ellos, se comportarán dentro de las expectativas expresadas. Tenemos un Programa de Reconocimiento Positivo para Estudiantes donde los maestros les dan Boletos del Código León a los estudiantes que siguen el Código León. Si un estudiante entrega una billetera perdida a la oficina, ese estudiante recibirá un boleto del Código León. Todos los estudiantes pueden recibir estas entradas del Código León varias veces por siguiendo el Código León. Los estudiantes canjean los boletos en la Tienda de Estudiantes por premios.
Como padre, puede promover una cultura escolar positiva al brindar apoyo académico en el hogar y con su presencia en los eventos escolares. Muchos miembros de la comunidad y empresas han mostrado su apoyo a nuestro Programa de Reconocimiento Positivo para Estudiantes al hacer donaciones. Sus donaciones han apoyado a la Tienda de Estudiantes donde se intercambian los boletos de Código León por premios y sorteos mensuales. Las empresas comunitarias también han donado a nuestras clases.
