Douglass Middle School Student Awards Program

Student recognition is an important component to any quality middle school program. At Douglass, we offer a variety of recognition opportunities for our 7th and 8th grade students. They include, but are not limited to the following:

Ongoing Recognition from teachers
Positive referrals are from teachers for doing great work or improvement in their studies.
Lion Code Tickets - redeemable for great prizes at the Student Store.
Semester
Top Lion – Staff recognition for outstanding achievement English, math, science, history, P.E, and electives
Honor Roll – Students with a 3.33 academic grade point average or higher at the semester
School-wide recognition awards
Student performance on the California Standards Tests will be recognized for being in the 600 Club, 500 Club, 400 Club, 350 Club, or one level of growth club on the CST’s.
Club Lion - 2.5 grade point average and positive citizenship marks.

End of Year Awards

Presidential Education Award :

This award is available only to 8th graders who have honor roll status every semester period for both years at Douglass.

Presidential Education Silver Award

This award is available only to 8th grade students who have a 3.5 GPA every semester for both years at Douglass and proficient or higher on the California Standards Test for Language Arts and Math.

Score a 3 or 4 in Math both years (7th and 8th grade)
Score a 3 or 4 in Language Arts both years (7th and 8th grade)
Have a 3.5 GPA or bettter every semester (7th grade both semesters, and 8th grade both semesters)

Presidential Education Gold Award

This award is available only to 8th grade students who have honor roll status every semester period for both years at Douglass and advanced on the California Standards Test for Language Arts and Math.

Score a 4 in Math both years (7th and 8th grade)
Score a 4 in Language Arts both years (7th and 8th grade)
Have a 3.5 GPA or bettter every semester (7th grade both semesters, and 8th grade both semesters)

Perfect Attendance Awards

This award is available for students that have 2 years of perfect attendance at Douglass Middle School.

3.33 - 4.00 GPA / Good Citizenship

Top Lion – Overall Academics

3.0 GPA / Good Citizenship / Teacher Recommendations

Club Lion

2.50 GPA / Good Citizenship

Extracurricular Activity Eligibility

2.00 GPA and NO “F’”
